EA admit "worst possible idea" is Criterion releasing every year

Need for Speed is finally getting 'cool' again and EA don't want to screw that up and so that's why Criterion is forbidden from releasing a new game every year.

It would "limit their creativity and hurt quality." Need for Speed: The Run is due this year and is from Black Box. It uses Frostbite 2 and EA Sports' animation tech.

EA boss John Riccitiello, now credited with 'saving' the publisher, has said in a speech that if anything they've "failed well," with a lot of mileage left to go.

It hasn't entirely paid off yet he argues, but they've had "a few wins" getting there. He "lost a few friends" making the transitions as some 'couldn't adapt'.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit v1.030 patch

A new patch, version 1.030, has been released for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Criterion claims that the patch fixes problems that account for almost half (47%) of the crashes caused by the top 10 problems reported by users.

The patch also contains 3 free cars, including the Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible, the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 650-4 Roadster and the Dodge Viper SRT10 Convertible Final Edition.
