Need For Speed: Rivals' Redview County "well over 100 miles" of open road

Developer Ghost has revealed that Redview County in Need For Speed: Rivals is 16X16 km with "well over 100 miles" of open road to tear along with "speeds over 200mph". It's larger than Most Wanted.

There'll also be "different shortcuts not shown on the map" to discover, which has become a staple of the series. New cars are unlocked through completing Speedlist or Assignments.

Swedish developer Ghost Games now 'owns' the Need for Speed franchise as they take over from Criterion Games, creator of the latest instalment Most Wanted. It "cannot go from black to white" anymore.

Black Box and Criterion had their own styles for Need for Speed, and that caused the veteran racer franchise to 'lose credibility'. Now fans will "know what to expect".

EA has announced their official list of titles attending this year's Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. They have "close to 500 gaming stations" ready for hands-on play. EA's media conference begins August 20th @ 3pm BST.

Battlefield 4, Command & Conquer, FIFA 14, The Sims 4, Need for Speed: Rivals, Titanfall and some mobile titles will be at the EA Booth in Hall 6 at Gamescom. EA will live stream their conference.
