Nexuiz Xbox 360 servers close down, PC servers "controlled 100%" by IllFonic

Developer IllFonic has explained why the Xbox Live servers for Nexuiz have shut down. They were controlled and paid for by THQ, and as the publisher no longer exists to pay the bills they got turned off.

Fortunately the PC servers are completely controlled by IllFonic and will continue on. While it's possible they could buy the Xbox 360 servers from THQ, they "cannot justify the cost" right now.

THQ has announced that Nexuiz will launch on the Xbox Live Arcade as part of Microsoft's 'House Party' season on 29th February for 800 Microsoft points.

Indie studio IllFonic discusses with us their XBLA and PSN digital release of Nexuiz, which is packing quality enough to challenge "larger studios."

Thanks in part to the CryEngine 3 tech, and their "bad ass team" at IllFonic naturally. Wants to prove digital releases can "rock your junk" with Nexuiz.

Crytek and IllFonic announced today that IllFonic has licensed CryENGINE 3 for Nexuiz, its upcoming XBLA and PSN cult futuristic Arena First-Person Shooter dropping this Winter.

CryENGINE 3 has allowed the IllFonic development team to achieve their vision for Nexuiz that will push the limits of what gamers can expect from an AAA digital downloadable title.
