What did Codemasters learn from Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising? Not to be a jack-of-all-trades' shooter. "You can’t be everything to all people!"

Adam Parsons says that Red River is "much tighter, more focussed" than its predecessor. They wanted to "remain authentic" but appeal to more FPS fans.

Codemasters upcoming Operation Flashpoint: Red River features no competitive multiplayer and they've "no plans to include" it with DLC.

They felt it would have been a 'token experience' if it had made the cut. OpFlash will return PvP multiplayer but its "got to be right" - no cramming features.

Codemasters' Adam Parsons is in 'complete disagreement' that Bohemia's ArmA series is a thorn in their side; they're no "direct competition whatsoever".

He says in our interview that a "small portion" still compare the two, but Codemasters are "offering something unique" with OpFlash. Not a "mil-sim in any way."

To avoid the "congested period" of the holiday when most retail shooters, Codemasters looks to the "1st April and the end of June" period instead.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River and racer Colin McRae: DiRT 3 will be releasing in Q2 2011, to avoid the "heavyweights". Grid sequel not until 2012.

It's official as Codemasters announce Operation Flashpoint: Red River, the latest instalment in the tactical shooter series, due next year.

It's set in Tajikistan with a "three distinct acts" campaign in singleplayer and 4-player co-op. It's got "deeper narrative" and other notable upgrades.
