Planetside 2 users can play on "any servers they want"
No region-locking for Planetside 2 servers, announces SOE boss John Smedley. The development team won't force regions to stay in their own backyard when selecting servers.

The official PlanetSite 2 website has re-launched, and Sony Online Entertainment has started accepting signups to join the closed beta.

Legendary comic book writer Marv Wolfman will be penning the backstory to Sony Online Entertainment's MMOFPS PlanetSide 2, according to a press release sent out by the publisher. This will be the first time the PlanetSide franchise narrative has been detailed.

Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley strongly believes that EA and BioWare's Star Wars MMO will be the last giant to use full subscriptions.
SOE is busy developing Planetside 2 which features free-to-play elements, possibly using an auction house system. F2P is a business model 'here to stay'.
UPDATE: John Smedley has clarified what he told a Chinese website about Planetside 2 in an interview as there was some "really bad translation going on". There will be no "RMT auction house" in SOE's Planetside 2, and its beta isn't locked down yet.
