Ubisoft releases announcement trailer for Child of Light

Far Cry 3's creative director is behind Ubisoft Montreal's Child of Light, which is built using the same UbiArt Framework engine that powers Rayman Origins. It's a 2.5D platforming adventure.

We play as Aurora, a young princess who must fight the Black Queen who has "stolen the Sun, the Moon and the Stars." It's got a rather fetching art style for this JRPG-inspired adventure.

Using the UbiArt Framework engine from Rayman Origins, Ubisoft has announced Child of Light from Far Cry 3 creative director Patrick Plourde. It's a side-scrolling "fairytale game" that's due out this holiday.

It embodies the "Squaresoft spirit" of PSOne era JRPGs Final Fantasy VIII and Vagrant Story, describes the publisher. Plourde created Child of Light as a "counter-point" to Far Cry.

The demo for one of the freshest platformers in many a moon, Rayman Origins, is now available on Steam. Gamers who want to check out the demo can do so from the Steam app or from the official game page here. The demo is a mere 845GB.

Ubisoft has announced that Rayman Origins is in development for the PC and will be released on 30th March, 2012.

Players can control Rayman in the solo campaign, or have up to three friends join in or leave any time as Globox or as one of the two Teensies in the offline multiplayer mode using four controllers on one computer.
