Review Shattered Union, review by mantismn

Wasted Pontential

The idea is one of the most original I've encountered lately. The battles and graphics are satisfactory enough to be enjoyed. The problem comes in when you aren't battling. There is no diplomacy, not that big of a deal since we want to blow stuff up anyway. My biggest beef is that there is no management of your territory... no way to improve the economy to get more money, or to add defensive installations to help keep the territory you've taken. What's the fun of controlling the Gulf Coast if you can't sink a few oil wells to bring in some cash, or drop a strip mine in Montana for coal... Another thing that would have been nice is naval warfare on the Great Lakes and in the Oceans. I kept itching to build some cruisers in Milwaukee and go and bombard Buffalo. So that's my review... potentially great with an awesome concept but just built too simply to be a very engaging game.
