GameStop cancel pre-orders for Ubisoft's Rainbow Six: Patriots

US retailer GameStop has pulled pre-orders for Rainbow Six: Patriots, although others continue to service them for now. What's going on? Officially Ubisoft have "nothing further to share" about the title.
Will Ubisoft be scrapping the project? It seems unlikely. What's more likely is that it's getting a major overhaul significant enough to affect the product listing, and so GameStop feel it should be relisted.

Following Jason Rubin's account of the rather terrible conditions developer 4A Games has to endure to stay in business, Metro: Last Light creative director Andrew Prokhorov responds to the former THQ boss.
Rubin was "the only THQ President" to visit them in their 10-year relationship with the publisher, and did so on his "second week" as the new boss. 4A strives to 'earn' better conditions.

4A Games release 'FOV and AMD' patch for Metro: Last Light

The promised tweaking of FOV for PC Metro: Last Light has arrived with the latest update via Steam. This lets those dead sure they want more on screen edit a config file - against 4A's general advise - to cram more in.
Also attached in this update is a fix for AMD cards of the 7xxx variety where some pesky shadow corruption was causing mischief; it forced Metro into a 3:1 resolution on some TVs.

Jason Rubin champions 'underdog' 4A Games, worked without 'power and heat'

Metro: Last Light's 4A Games is that developer from... erm, er - where are they from? That's precisely the problem, says Jason Rubin - the former Naughty Dog man thrown the hot potato that was THQ.
Rubin is doing what he can to tell the story behind the game of Metro, and it's far, far from an ideal situation for any developer - or any company for that matter. Electricity would've been nice.

Custom FOV update for PC Metro: Last Light, 4A Games warn of 'breakages'

Developer 4A Games has heard the rallied cry of the community and are going to let PC fans tweak a config file to adjust the Field of View setting for Metro: Last Light. However, they warn of the consequences.
The studio thought of offering "three different FOV presets" but it would demand "significant work to re-do every animation," adjusting the HUD, UI and other odd bits. So they compromise.

EA: Battlefield 4 survey real but "not indicative" of final features

A survey going around for DICE's Battlefield 4 has been confirmed as legitimate by EA, but what it contains shouldn't be taken as gospel for what's coming, like when it mentioned "dramatic water-based combat."
Piloting attack boats, inflatable boats, and jet skis on "swelling seas and stormy oceans" might not happen. The survey also talks about blowing dams open to flood combat zones.

EA snaps up domains Battlefield13.com through to Battlefield20.com

If you thought you'd be retiring on that big fat cheque from EA because you domain parked yourself at Battlefield16.com, then think again. EA has been on the war path and annexed a few more slithers of the internet.
The publisher already held ownership of domains all the way up to Battlefield9.com, but their legal department decided to snatch some more just in case. Pure numeracy is cool, who needs subtitles?
