PAX Prime 2012: Two Shootmania Storm game modes free-to-play

Ubisoft has announced that two game modes in Shootmania Storm will be free-to-play at launch: Royal and Elite.

The "Royal" game mode is basically a "King of the Hill" every-man-for-himself mode where players earn points for controlling a map point. The "Elite" game mode is a base defense mode.

ManiaPlanet has announced that its do-it-yourself shooter creator ShootMania Storm will be going into beta on the 2nd July. The beta will run for only a week.

Ubisoft has released the debut trailer for ShootMania Storm, the first person shooter version of their popular TrackMania racing title. The ManiaPlanet development team aim to make creation of shooters as easy as possible for users with their title.

Trackmania developer Nadeo don't believe that violent games are in keeping with the "spirit" of gaming, they said to us in an interview.

Managing Director Florent Castelnerac made a point of highlighting how their new FPS create & play title, Shootmania, is not a 'violent' game. When asked about this, he said...

Nadeo Managing Director Florent Castelnerac has said that copyright infringement is not something they have to worry about for their new create & play title - Shootmania.

Talking to Strategy Informer, when asked about whether they had systems in place to moderate user-generated content, he said:

"No, no... we are far from this question. We're like Windows. We're an Operating System ... YouTube is ten times closer to this question..."
