Los Angeles-based Pantera Entertainment has managed to reach their goal of $80,000 on Kickstarter for Theme Park Studio, which they bill as a simulation. We get to design and create amusement parks and rides.

Any pledge over $50 gets in on the beta - a standard affair these days. The team also plan to support the Oculus Rift VR headgear to hopefully get us scared of our own creations.

What form will the next bit of content take for SimCity? Will it be another Nissan billboard charging station, or perhaps some Crest-sponsored tourist trap? Digital storefront Green Man Gaming knows, and they blabbed.

Ripping down the online store page proved too late. SimCity will be getting new DLC called Amusement Park this May 28th, and it adds... a rather large park that's themed.

EA had been teasing The Sims community with a strange message that was encoded in Simlish, the native gibberish of the Sims. Well its secrets have been spilled forth and we learn... some dates.

Fans are told to "remember" the following days: May 23rd, June 18th and July 9th. The message also announces a trailer will debut "June 10th @ E3". Also mentioned are dev team members.

Just because a new fancier 'The Sims 4' is due next year doesn't mean EA will let the current reigning champ, The Sims 3, off the hook for more add-ons. Coming at the end of the month is Dragon Valley.

They'll be adding a new world where our Sims get to have their very own dragons to nurture, and possibly singe more than just their clothes. It promises new stories and "cute baby dragons".

It seems that the negative publicity surrounding the online-only reboot of SimCity has haunted Electronic Arts, as the publisher revealed during an investor call that sales of the game plummeted after its initial launch.

Original Mayor of all things Sim - Will Wright - says he can "understand the outrage" for those who've paid $60 for something they couldn't play. SimCity is a "good game" but DRM caused backlash.

Wright touches of the problem of how people view the game, saying it occupies a "very uncomfortable space" between MMO and singleplayer. Maxis have announced another major update due this week.

22Cans has released their latest video update for Godus which is due to be in the hands of backers soon in alpha form. The team are busy cramming in code, art and sounds to get it ready.

We also get to see some of it in action, although the mood among backers is subdued over it's 'Farmville nature' of clicking homes to collect Faith, the game's currency for God powers.

Chris Roberts' massively multiplayer space combat sim Star Citizen may have finished Kickstarter funding a long time ago, but Wing Commander's creator has continued to accept donations on-site since and has added another $7M in funding to hit $9M.

Those looking to get their pirate hands on Game Dev Tycoon from indie Greenheart Games are in for a surprise as a 'very special' version is doing the rounds in file-sharing communities. Pirates are hit with piracy.

The indie devs have booby trapped the 'cracked' version so that virtual game developers are failing, hard, as their virtual little products get hammered by pirates. Irony in 5, 4, 3, 2...

Just when you thought it was finally safe to step out onto the streets, along comes a fresh load of problems just stepping off the bus. Update 2.0 has introduced all-new woes.

Right now there's a bit of a sewage spillage problem, as well as phantom pollution clouds coming from nowhere. The good news is that traffic has improved and firefighters do their job. Hurray!

22Cans latest developer diary affirms Godus "not a free-to-play game"

In the latest video update to backers of Godus, Peter Molyneux clarifies that his land sculpting God game won't be free-to-play but a full PC, Mac and Linux title. They also reveal some more about the GUI being designed.

If everything remains on track for the Godus team at 22Cans then the alpha version should be out in the hands of backers by mid-May. We'll get to play with our followers in the 'home world'.

Prison Architect reaches Alpha 9, adds prisoner employment and visitations

The development of Prison Architect is chugging along nicely as Introversion's Chris Delay announces the release of version Alpha 9 to those who've pre-purchased. We can now put those prisoners to work.

To save money at our correctional facilities we can start handing our mops, sponges and overalls to our prison populace. Also introduced is the visitation room so inmates can chat to family.

Maxis "taking down all servers" for SimCity today for 2.0 update

There will be a few hours of no SimCity servers, announces Maxis, as they apply to 2.0 update to their server-side assets. They've analysed play times and found 1pm PST the best period to disrupt services.

They'll be down "for a few hours" while this significant update is going on. A long list of tune ups has been posted, which include mass transit overhauls and random disaster cooldowns.

2.0 patch for SimCity arriving on Monday

Maxis has announced that the major 2.0 patch for SimCity will be arriving this Monday on the 22nd April. The game's servers will be brought down at around 1:00PM PDT as the update is installed.

If you buy Crest or Oral-B toothpaste brands in the US then there's a good chance you'll be enjoying the delights of five new tourist attraction parks in SimCity. Apparently white teeth buys you DLC now.

It's a curious marketing gimmick to be sure, and follows on from the free Nissan Leaf Charging station that Maxis released. It's not the best time though perhaps, given SimCity's launch.

Four developers who worked for Heavy Rain studio Quantic Dream have revealed their new game, a space combat sim Strike Vector. The developers promise "a distinct old school feel, reminiscent to games such as Crimson Skies, Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament."

Railsimulator.com has announced that the Marias Pass expansion pack is now available for Train Simulator 2013. The DLC features 152 miles of track in the Northwestern United States as well as 8 scenarios which challenges players to engineer heavy freight through the varied terrain and treacherous weather.

Maxis has let the Cheetah roam free once again as the highest game speed returns to SimCity after having been disabled shortly after launch. Now Mayors can really watch their cities hustle and bustle.

Work continues on the next update to SimCity which addresses a lot of gamer gripes to do with city services, mass transit and other AI quirks. Still no timetable for its arrival.
