Sins of a Solar Empire developer Ironclad Games is tinkering with Sins of a Dark Age, which leaves the spacey void of sci-fi for medieval style fantasy. It's also a free-to-play strategy title.

Studio co-founder Blair Fraser tells us they opted for an art style "very much unused" today; surrealism. They've applied that same philosophy to characters, lore, gameplay etc.

Stardock has announced that the standalone expansion to their popular 4X science fiction strategy game, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, will be arriving on the 12th June, and preorders are now available on the Stardock store, Steam and Impulse digital distribution services.

Gamers who registered and were selected to beta-test Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion will start playing the standalone expansion today, as the beta has gone live.

Those who are still interested in beta-testing Rebellion can get automatic entry into the beta by preordering the title. Owners of the original Sins of a Solar Empire will get $10 off the price of the game.

The first dev diary for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion has been released by Ironclad Games, showing off some gameplay as well as the TEC faction. The diary details how the Rebel/Loyalist factions within each race will work within the game, as well as a glimpse of the mega-sized military ships, the Titan.
