Eurogamer is breaking the news that Electronic Arts Red Alert 3 will be arriving for PC on October 31st. This release will be followed by a Xbox 360 version on the 14th of November. EA previously announced that a Playstation 3 version has been put on hold and no new information regarding that version has yet been revealed. | |

Sierra announced today that it will be closing 21 game servers on 1st November. This is probably due to the Activision Blizzard merger, although we cannot confirm this as Sierra haven't given a reason for shutting down these servers. | |

Paradox Interactive today announced that the grand strategy collection Europa Universalis III: Complete will be released the 14th of October in North America and the 17th of October in Europe. Included in the collection is the multiple award winning Europa Universalis III enhanced by the expansions Napoleon's Ambition and In Nomine. The timeline of the original game has been expanded, forward through the Napoleonic Era to 1820, and backwards to let you start as early as 1399, while the Hundred Years War between England and France is still going on. | |

| Electronic Arts Sued Over Spore DRM | |

A class action suit filed September 22nd with the northern California District Court is asking for a judgment in excess of $5 million from Electronic Arts. The suit was filed by one Melissa Thomas and "all others similarly situated." The complaint sites that the installation of SecureROM as part of the Spore installation was not authorized by the Plaintiff and that SecureROM can have undesired effects on the consumer. Almost lost in the uproar over the DRM complaints surrounding Electronic Arts Spore, are complaints concerning the online accounts for Spore. Contrary to what is stated in the manual Spore only allows one online account to be created per install – so on a multiple use system you can only have one Spore screen name regardless of how many users share the system. | |

| EA continues to defend Spore's DRM procedure | |

Electronic Arts continues to defend its DRM strategy on Spore. In a recent email interview with MTV EA responds to some of the complaints users have regarding the DRM as currently implemented. The primary complaints are the limited number of allowed installs, currently set to three, and the online authentication that is required each time the game is started. | |

The release of Electronic Arts Spore with the much maligned SecureROM anti-piracy system drew mass criticism from users on the Internet. Many forum posters complained about the restrictive DRM requirements and the average customer review of the game on Amazon.com as of this writing is 1.5 stars out of 5. Many of the reviews complain about problems installing the game and reaching activation servers in order to play the game. Others complain about the limit to the number of allowed installs. | |
