Southpeak has posted the second Stronghold III developer diary, which focuses on the physics involved with the game. Not only does it make the game feel more real, but it allows for some procedural comedy such as archers topping off walls.

Publisher 7Sixty thanks digital marketplaces because it's kept the long running PC series Stronghold alive and well, and the retailed Stronghold Collection too.

Online markets have meant "new audiences are still discovering" the castle building and sieging strategy. Excluding spin-offs, Stronghold has cleared 5m copies.

Well, this is an odd turn of events.

Information released today has announced the formation of a new, possibly digital-focused games publisher named 7Sixty, who is also now the new publisher of castle-building strategy game, Stronghold 3.

SouthPeak moves Stronghold 3 back to Summer 2011

SouthPeak Interactive has announced today that a delay for Stronghold 3 has been put in place to move the release date back to this summer. The publisher assures us that this delay was made to ensure that Stronghold 3 includes a host of great new features.

"We want to make sure fans get the game they want and deserve," said Stronghold 3's designer Simon Bradbury. "Although some may be disappointed the game isn't coming out as soon as they expected, we’re sure they won’t be disappointed with the new elements we’re adding to the franchise, to make this the best Stronghold yet."

Loss and income down for SouthPeak

The latest fiscal from SouthPeak Games shows their Q2 losses and revenue are both down from the same period in 2009. Stronghold is in their 2011.

Net revenue was at $7.5 million and losses posted at $2.1 million for Q2, which ended December 31st. SouthPeak has won back the My Baby franchise.
