Is it just me, or the screenshots show that the trees are very crude and done with almost no effort? They look like they've been made of paper.

I remember the 2nd one it was ok/fun but it wasn't great

I actually disagree with you guys, I really like this game!! It looks fantastic!! (talking about the previous versions of stronghold!!) and I wish to find this one great too!!
By Mercy (SI Core) on Aug 30, 2010
Mercy
I don't know what stronghold is and from the looks of it I don't think I would care.

Stronghold is one of the old classic games. It's previous releases have been OK for me, but I think the whole franchise lack more depth.
By Mercy (SI Core) on Aug 30, 2010
Mercy
Old classic so it was good back in the day?
By bosnian_dragon (SI Core) on Aug 30, 2010
bosnian_dragon
Yeah, but as I said, in my opinion, it lacked some depth to keep me addicted enough. If you're a fan of Age of Empires, then you'd probably like it.
By Mercy (SI Core) on Aug 30, 2010
Mercy
Ok then I wouldn't like it.
By Kres (SI Elite) on Sep 02, 2010

Is Stronghold really a comparison with Age of Empires? Age of Empires is pure RTS. Stronghold is castle builder / defender. Don't think I'd compare the two.
By bosnian_dragon (SI Core) on Sep 03, 2010
bosnian_dragon
Kres, you're right, more adequate would be if I had compared it with Anno or Settlers.
By Mercy (SI Core) on Sep 03, 2010
Mercy
Ok now I'm confused is the game good? Tower defence was it?
By Kres (SI Elite) on Sep 03, 2010
Kres
Well yeah sort of Tower defence, but with advanced, more realistic features. So I'd say if you're into middle ages and TDs, then go for it. There are demos to try out.
By Mercy (SI Core) on Sep 03, 2010
Mercy
I see lets see if it really is advanced.
By lichlord (SI Core) on Sep 03, 2010

its a sort of tower defence/attack game idk how this one will work the latest ones work with terfs the old ones generally uses proximity build the idea is of leading a siege on you oppeponents castle and kill his/her king while meanwhile you defend yours you can do that trough multible ways using trebuchet, rams, siege towers n stuff and defend you caslte with pitch(wich set on fire with fire arrows) rolling logs n stuff or even an small mounted on tower ballista/catapult to defend its really nice id reccomend trying before judging this one tho for me stronghold 1 is still the best of all since they offer a more realistic play in my view that is
By Mercy (SI Core) on Sep 03, 2010
Mercy
Oh wow that sounds nice I think I'll add this to my wish list.
By Kres (SI Elite) on Sep 03, 2010

From the screenshots it does look a lot like the previous one. Hopefully they will have lots of new features and buildings

These pics look okay. Though this game looks just a little better than Stronghold 2. I played Crusader the most and prefer it over Sh2.

hopefully this will be more in depth and more realistic then the 2nd one ie when their knight gets shot with more than 5 arrows he will actually die

cmon now, all the strongholds were great but i hope this one will be the greatest of all, because i realy enjoy playing stronghold.....
By lichlord (SI Core) on Oct 27, 2010
lichlord
nope stronghold 2 was more annoying then fun all these useless stuff i hated that i had to built like 50 of the squalor pits and 50 of those eagle posts n stuff was seriously getting tired of it

the only good thing bout that is that you can enter towers and your keep and the castle feast is also nice
By Lavanianthe (SI Newbie) on Nov 11, 2010
Lavanianthe
yes but this are the facts that make the stronghold games real rts games.....
By lichlord (SI Core) on Nov 15, 2010
lichlord
RTS meaning i want to do warfare too it ain't exactly sim city castle style....
By Lavanianthe (SI Newbie) on Nov 18, 2010
Lavanianthe
yes it is definetely not like total war in warfare but stronghold games try to send a lesson that i have not yet understand, they want to make an innovation in rts games in their own way....
By lichlord (SI Core) on Dec 08, 2010
lichlord
meaning like EA tried to do? :D

was v pleased to see sh3 coming out next year, picked up Crusader extreme in the interim which was an interesting diversion. loved the first one and played through again after extreme but the lack of the set difficulty option does make it seem a little tame these days - hopefully something that is included in 3

I'm playing Anno 1701 and Settlers VI at the moment, and I must say that Stronghold looks verry similar. I'll probably skip this one since I've played those two a little bit too much in the last few months.

should this game just fade away into the annals of PC history?
By Nicolas19 (SI Core Veteran) on Mar 26, 2011
Nicolas19
No! It is a great concept, worthy of better implementation.
By lichlord (SI Core) on Mar 26, 2011
lichlord
it will never match/or be compareble to anno 1701 and the settlers i suggest at least doing a test of the game
By Sir_Recon (SI Veteran Newbie) on Mar 27, 2011
Sir_Recon
I've been waiting for better implementation since stronghold 1, if this game doesn't get at least an 84% I'm steering clear, some of the Stronghold games were just so bad!
By lichlord (SI Core) on Mar 30, 2011
lichlord
yea hopefully the devs learned something from it and stick to the stronghold 1 gameplay
By bosnian_dragon (SI Core) on Apr 02, 2011
bosnian_dragon
@Lichlord, I was judgin' by the looks and the general economic concept that is featured in all three games. Of course, they can't be compared when it comes to battle and other strategic aspects.

i hope this is good as the old stronghold!!!!
