The bad news about Microsoft's next-gen console Xbox One's hard drive is that the internal 500GB drive can't be removed or changed. The good news is that gamers will be allowed to use any external hard drive through the USD 3.0 port.

Microsoft will be continuing its Xbox 360 policy of not allowing independent developers to self-publish on the Xbox One on Xbox Live Arcade. They must have a publisher with either Microsoft or a third party company.

Developer Crytek has updated their games product page for Ryse, their Roman-era and Kinect-powered action title. It's revealed that Ryse will be 'exclusive' to the Xbox One, taking full advantage of the new Kinect.

Of course it'll also have all that extra horsepower under the hood for Crytek's CryEngine 3, like support of DirectX 11. They've a countdown for an announcement in 21 days.

Deep Silver has unveiled plans for a Season Pass for 4A Games' Metro: Last Light. Included in the package of upcoming DLC are additions to the storyline, as well as "interesting tools" for fans to explore the game.

The packs will be releasing over the coming summer, with the Faction and Chronicles Packs adding new and original gameplay. There's also a solo challenge for veterans.

Microsoft has announced that Kinect 2.0, which is bundled with Xbox One, will be also be available for PC users. Kinect program manager Scott Evans stated, "We will bring this to PC. We will have more information soon."

EA's Origin and other servers suffer "unexpected downtime"

The Origin digital platform as well as Answer HQ and other EA servers were hit by "unexpected downtime", announces the publisher. This affected logins to the services which in the case of Origin, meant games were unplayable.

Online accounts, current customer support cases, community forums etc. all suffered downtime with EA "monitoring this outage" and working fast to solve it.

The Kickstarter for the 1980s set Jagged Alliance: Flashback is entering its final moments with just under 60 hours left on the clock. It needs $350,000 to succeed and has around $270k from over 5,400 backers.

Full Control has had great support from the Jagged Alliance community, including the modders. Flashback explores the roots of the fictional merc group A.I.M.

Heavy Gear Assault starts Kickstarter funding

Developer Stompy Bot Productions has announced that its massively multiplayer mech game Heavy Gear Assault is now being crowdfunded on Kickstarter, with a goal of $800K in 39 days. The game will be powered by the Unreal Engine 4 engine by Epic Games. The game is expected to have a December 2014 release window.

Deep Silver takes UK chart with Metro: Last Light first, Dead Island: Riptide second

The UK all format chart has been taken over by publisher Deep Silver as Metro: Last Light debuts atop the ladder, followed by Dead Island: Riptide, who has only just been demoted from the chart throne.

EA's FIFA 13 came third, with Nintendo's Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity after that. Injustice: Gods Among Us slips from fourth to eighth. BioShock Infinite is tenth.

Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition for PC releases digitally July 3rd

Warner Bros. has decided the PC brigade need some Mortal Kombat in their diet and so announce the Komplete Edition, which crams in every released bit of DLC for NetherRealm's visceral brawler.

There are 15 Klassic Mortal Kombat Skins and 3 Klassic Fatalities included. It has been adapted for PC by High Voltage Software, and it includes Tag Team, Challenge Tower and a full story.

NCSoft and ArenaNet permanently drop Guild Wars 2 price

The MMORPG Guild Wars 2 is from now on a bit cheaper as NCSoft and developer ArenaNet has snipped the price tag down, which came into effect yesterday. The standard edition now costs $50 / £34.99.

The Digital Deluxe is lowered to $70 / £49.99. They decided to permanently lower the price to lure in more players as ArenaNet keeps releasing new episodic content.

Voice actor Kevin Conroy recently said at Dallas Comic Con he was Batman once again, which led everyone more or less to believe he was reviving his role in Batman: Arkham Origins due out this fall. Not so.

Arkham Origins' Batman is to be voice by Ezio Auditore's Roger Craig Smith. Conroy apparently is voicing Batman in a "new Arkham game coming soon," so at least we have that.
