Runic have "great Torchlight MMO ideas," but they won't commit yet
Torchlight developer Runic Games, whilst eager for Torchlight to expand into the MMO space, doesn't want to get "locked into something" so big yet. They should be expanding it first.

Runic Games is not afraid of being overshadowed by Blizzard's mammoth title Diablo III, as they stated they would be releasing Torchlight II "shortly" after its release.
According to CEO Max Schaefer at PAX Easy 2012, "Well, I'm sure you've noticed Diablo has announced a date. So, we don't want to fall right on that. The real answer is when (Torchlight 2) is finished, is Diablo 3 right now? Then we'll wait."

The April Fool's Day joke for Runic Games was posted on Friday, throwing off some people, but honestly, who wouldn't want the idea of a cute bulldog or a ferret joining you in your quest into the dark, dangerous areas of Torchlight II?

Runic Games, the developers of Torchlight II, have expressed excitement on their official site about the announcement by Blizzard of Diablo III's release date, the 15th May, despite the fact that Diablo III is a direct competitor with their action-RPG.
"Congratulations to the Diablo III team for announcing a release date! That's got to be a such a feeling of relief to be on the home stretch. We're excited to hear the news, and we can't wait to play," began Runic's post.

It seems players anxious to play Runic Games action-RPG Torchlight II this year will be out of luck, as the Diablo-styled game has been delayed into 2012. The reason is quite simple: the game isn't up to snuff yet.
