Vanguard - getting better day by day

Vanguard - the successor to the god-father of MMORPGs EverQuest is one of the best games out on the market.

"But I thought EverQuest II was the successor to EverQuest?"

In title yes, but in gameplay, Vanguard is the brain trust of some of the original Everquest developers and it truly incorporates elements of all of the latest MMORPGs out there to give you one of the best game-playing experiences yet, where EverQuestII has woefully failed.

"I've tried Vanguard and I have to run at the lowest graphic level and it crashes all the time!!!"

This may have been true in the first month or so of release, but since that time, Sigil has made great strides at optimizing the game and it is in much better shape today.

Honestly, if you loved EQ and you love WoW, you will love Vanguard. It has similar classes to EQ and similar gameplay to WoW without the WoW campiness. The graphics are phenomenal and the game play is excellent. Albeit, if you have a high-end gaming system, you will be able to crank the graphics and enjoy the eye-candy, but even if you don't, the low graphics settings are impressive and the gameplay doesn't change no matter what graphic level you choose.

I've spun up a Sorcerer, Cleric, and Psionicist so far and I have had a great time with each.

If you haven't tried it and are looking for something new, give it a go! You will be impressed and you will have fun. I have run into several people in-game that have said it is more fun than WoW even in Vanguard's buggy stage.

Just remember, it is new, there are still some bugs but they are being fixed and patches are released regularly.

Overall, awesome game. It has great potential as more people login and play. The world is vast and ready to be explored! Just imagine, you can build structures including boats and homes, plus if you don't like always adventuring you can level your character (not just increase skill, actually level) in crafting alone or you can become a diplomat and change the diplomatic landscape of the game. The game has so much going on I can't describe it all here, just try it!
