Database hacks force The War Z offline, "a humbling experience" for studio
Controversial zombie survival MMO The War Z has been the victim of database attacks for both their online forums and the game itself. Compromised data includes email, passwords, IPs and character names.
While passwords are encrypted, OP Productions admits a brute force approach could get through as many users are "not using strong passwords." They advise changing them immediately.

Survival horror MMO The War Z from Hammerpoint Interactive is in trouble with its community after users began complaining that the game doesn't deliver what was advertised through Steam.
Right now it's Steam's top selling title. Its listing promises maps ranging 100 to 400 square km, but it has only just one at 72 km. They're sorry to those who "misread information" about The War Z.

The War Z executive producer Sergey Titov expressed his disgust at spawn campers in a forum post on the game's official forum, and unfortunately used a gay slur in the process.

Rocket's DayZ and Hammerpoint's The War Z may be treading the same undead strewn ground, but the latter developer feels there's room for both games in the market.

Hammerpoint Interactive's The War Z is soon to reach closed beta announces the studio. It begins October 31st with access given to early purchases, with a discount running until the 20th.
You could gain game access as early as October 15th though if you choose the Pioneer package over the more standard Survivor, which would also include $15 of in-game currency.
