Wargaming discusses difficulties of making naval combat fun in World of Warships

Making a tactical action game set at sea isn't easy. Have you ever seen the sea? It's boring, just a big flat, blue pond with nothing on it. Which is why developer Wargaming's had to think carefully about how to liven up their naval warfare MMO World of Warships.

"One of the reasons why the game has taken so long in development is actually balancing that - it's incredibly complex, because the sea is an open space,"
Wargaming's head of publishing Mike Federov told Strategy Informer in a recent interview.

World of Tanks grows to 75 million users, peaked at 1.1 million concurrent in 2013

Wargaming's MMO World of Tanks had achieved 60 million registered users as of June this year, but already they've ballooned to 75 million half a year later. It peaked at 1,152,261 concurrent users this year.

Some other interesting stats include 201 billion shells propelled and 17 billion armoured vehicles needing road-side assistance. These figures are before it blitzkriegs consoles and tablets.

World of Tanks now an official discipline at the the World Cyber Games 2013

Wargaming has announced their MMO World of Tanks is officially a disciple at the upcoming World Cyber Games 2013 being held November 28th through to December 1st in Kunshan, China.

Its acceptance is "truly a testament" to World of Tanks success among eSports fans. The best tank warriors will be competing for prize pools across 16 national teams.

Wargaming: Studios "need to become missionaries" for the industry, $200bn by 2016

Wargaming's Victor Kislyi says 'ask not what your industry can do for you, but what you can do for your industry'. Okay he didn't really say that, but the message is clear: fight to promote the industry, not just yourself.

Speaking at DICE Europe, Kislyi says $75bn in revenue for games is 'squandered potential'. Studios must band together and "change people's view" if we want $200bn.

World of Warplanes launch pushed back to November 12th

Wargaming.net is delaying the launch of their free-to-play MMO World of Warplanes, which was originally due for a full release next week on September 26th. Those chocks stay where they are until November.

The pushback is too allow for more time to work on "richer, more immersive multiplayer". They also affirm that XP earned during the beta will not be reset for pilots.
