This latest developer diary from Wargaming discusses the studio's plans for tuning up the MMOs graphics, from new special effects to tank models "of super precision," and more. Last time they talked physics.

This is part of a wider 2014 plan to give World of Tanks a tune up now that we've got fancier hardware in our PCs. So when we blow off turrets, they'll be looking mighty fine.

Enhancements in the works at Wargaming for World of Tanks this year have been teased in a new developer dairy from the studio. They hail 2014 as a "truly transformative year" for the free-to-play behemoth.

They intend to "overhaul the look and feel" throughout the year with these changes, as they pursue a new graphics renderer for greater details to models and environments.

Contrary to Wargaming's take on history, tanks don't go on a shelling-spree not caring who they upset. Confrontation mode finally lets nationality play its role... to divide us.

World of Tanks to update with Confrontation mode for nation vs. nation teams

Wargaming will update World of Tanks with a new game mode called Confrontation which pits teams of nations against one another, which is of course determined by what armour you choose.

This new mode has been a "popular request" by players, but Update 8.11 also adds a new winter battle arena called Windstorm and a wintery Himmelsdorf, with Ruinberg also revamped.

World of Tanks European Season 3 Finals with €100k prize money

January 25th will see the winner crowned from the upcoming European Season 3 Finals for Wargaming's World of Tanks eSports tournament. It's being held in Tychy, Poland and €100k will be awarded the winner.

So far €300k has been paid to tourney winners, and the next two competition days beginning the end of this month will see two teams move onto the World of Tanks Global Finals.
