Rumour: Blizzard lays off Titan project's senior level designer, John Staats

According to a source, Blizzard's John Staats, once described as the "hero of the WoW dev team" by Jeff Kaplan, has been let go from the studio having been there for over 10 years.

Staats created many of World of Warcraft's best content pieces, including all raid instances. He was attached as the Titan project senior level designer. Trouble in paradise?

Blizzard's Mike Morhaime strongly believes World of Warcraft's subscription offers the best value for money, adding you can't get that "entertainment value anywhere."

Their MMO is "just unmatched" even when put it against "EA with the Star Wars game," he said. It "isn't true" the less you charge the more you make from MMOs.

COO Paul Sams of Blizzard says they've got a group within the studio "focusing on mobile and tablet apps," but so far they've "been around our games."

The WoW auction house app has been highly successful. It depends "what the game is" as that decides platforms. They "don't have any opposition" to free-to-play.

Blizzard are keen to assure World of Warcraft fans that the Mists of Pandaria expansion isn't something "really silly, it's just a little lighter." Had plans for years.

The Pandaren race are "really chill" about the "serious as a heart attack" history of Azeroth. Mists of Pandaria provides the "next vital chapter" in Warcraft lore.
