Blizzard: New trial will "build and sustain" World of Warcraft

Mega MMO World of Warcraft was down 600k subscriptions according to its last financial report, but that was before Cataclysm "launched in China."

Also the Blizzard MMO is "launching in Brazil this year" and the studio has "great expectations" for the South American market. It isn't waning.

Not only is the subscription base of World of Warcraft getting smaller, but the casual population is growing, with players so unfamiliar with the concept of an MMO that they struggle with the concept of looting bodies of slain enemies.

Blizzard has "hands full" with titles, no time for StarCraft spin-off

Blizzard co-founder Frank Pearce has admitted if there was a team "free and available" for a StarCraft MMO then it could happen, if they were "really passionate".

Right now though they've got their "hands full with everything" and so Blizzard hasn't the time to "to do anything beyond" StarCraft as a real-time strategy series.

World of Warcraft 4.3 update adds armor Transmogrification

Blizzard has announced a new feature that will be included in the World of Warcraft 4.3 update called Tranmogrification, which aims to correct a long-standing complaint regarding old gear. What it does is simple: it allows players to take an old piece of armor and give it the stats of a current piece of armor.

NCsoft 'worried' MMO mass market "equals conservative design"

More is better, yes? Well, no, NCsoft's Jeremy Gaffney of Carbine Studios 'worries' that a MMO mass market will actually scare studios into conformity.

He said the "great thing" about early day MMOs like Asheron's Call and Ultima Online was that they "experimented" and "weren't afraid" of their differences.
