| Look out, a Geo Monster! | Geo Panels boosting your stats |
The land of Valdime is generally a peaceful place where humans rarely ever encounter monsters. All of that changed when Overlord Zenon cursed the land and turned everyone into a monster. Everyone except Adell, that is. Now it’s up to Adell to defeat Zenon and restore peace to the land.
If you’re familiar with the original Disgaea, then you’re already largely familiar with the gameplay in Disgaea 2. The game is a turn-based strategy/RPG with a heavy emphasis on combat. Features from the original game, like Geo Symbols, picking up characters, and combo attacks, will make a return, but there are also some really cool new features. One of my personal favorite additions is the stack attack. This will allow you to pick up characters and “stack” them upon you. You can then launch enemies into the air and do a combo move with all of the allies you have stacked.
The item world is a great place to power up both your items and character. In Cursed Memories, you can enter the Mystery Gate in the item world, allowing you to go to the hospital to heal your units, or go to the cell phone shop in order to buy a phone to call in a buddy for help. For example, you can use cell phones to call in the Prism Rangers, a fan favorite from the original game.

Creating new characters |
There are some additions to the game outside of battles as well. In the original Disgaea, players could go to the Dark Assembly and ask them to lower the price of items or decrease the level of enemies. This didn’t always work, though. In Cursed Memories, you can use chloroform to knock out the Assembly members, nullifying their vote. Or you can get them so drunk that they don’t know what they’re doing! Cursed Memories also has the addition of the Dark Court, where you’ll go before a Prinny Judge and be praised for doing certain “evil deeds”. After all, this is the Netherworld we’re talking about.
Cursed Memories will feature many familiar faces from other Nippon Ichi titles, including Laharl and Etna from the original Disgaea, and various characters from Makai Kingdom. You’ll also be able to create your own characters from over 200 character classes.

| Doing a combo for big damage | Stack attack! |
From the looks of it, Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories has taken everything that made the original game good, and built even further upon it. Everything fans loved about the original game is there and enhanced. If you’re a SRPG fan, you’d be crazy to NOT want this game.
