Ubisoft has revealed that the modern day protagonist of the Assassin's Creed series, Desmond Miles, has outlived his usefulness, and at some point, he'll be dropped from the series.

Assassin's Creed III creative director Alex Hutchinson is frustrated over the idea that sequels are by default 'stupid' and lacking innovation. Indies are thought of as the creative geniuses.

Hutchinson points out there are "plenty of franchises" out there that have made "huge leaps within a consistent universe." It isn't fair to "cap games with that definition" across the board.

The latest narrated gameplay footage for Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed 3 features the city of Boston which has been replicated to a 1:3 scale, which applies to its other big city New York.

We're treated to around 6 minutes of action. We now get moving carts filled with stuff to hide and assassinate from, as well as 'stealth positioning' by striking from cover to get the drop on foes.

With the 4th of July hitting on Wednesday, it's only appropriate that Ubisoft would release a special Assassin's Creed 3 trailer honoring those who fought in the American Revolution.

Ubisoft "need to make new IPs," will release "one, two" every year Poll

Executive director Laurent Detoc of Ubisoft says the publisher plans on releasing at least one new franchise per year. Last year it was Rocksmith, he said. It could be as much as two IPs.

It depends on whether it's a good year or not. In 2013 Ubisoft will be introducing Watch Dogs, a brand new IP focusing on a fully connected world just ripe for hacking and mischief.
