Crytek working hard toward 90+ 'quality threshold' with Crysis 2

EA Partner's boss David DeMartini declared Crysis 2 would be "another 90 rated game" from Crytek, which releases early next year in late March.

Developer Crytek has responded to that ambitious goal, not with boasts, but with how they're trying to accomplish this "difficult to attain" threshold.

Crytek's multiplayer beta for Crysis 2 is "limited to Xbox 360" but only for the first round, as the online "tech test" will expand to the others in due time.

The closed multiplayer beta mentions no start date as invitations are sent out to members of the community. Crysis 2 releases in March of next year.

Cologne, Germany - August 17th 2010 - Electronic Art and Crytek, Europe's leading independent video game studio and award-winning developers of the critically acclaimed Crysis franchise, today announced two special editions for the highly anticipated first person shooter Crysis 2; the Crysis 2 Limited Edition and the Crysis 2 Nano Edition.

Both editions feature premium packaging and special unlocks in the Crysis 2 multiplayer game. The Limited Edition and Nano Edition are available for pre-order now in limited quantities. EA and Crytek also announced today a closed multiplayer beta for Xbox 360 starting later this year.

Publisher EA has posted their tantalising list of what they'll have on show at gamescom in Cologne, Germany. It's a veritable feast of awesome.

We've got Crysis 2, Dragon Age 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic, FIFA 11, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Medal of Honor, Dead Space 2 and more!

EA delays Crysis 2 into Q4

EA has decided to delay Crysis 2 and will now be releasing the game in Q4, which runs between January and the end of March 2011. It was originally scheduled to be an autumn release.

"Our EA Games Label has a Q4 line-up anchored by Crysis 2 from Crytek, which has been moved from Q3 for a better window and polishing," said EA COO John Schappert during an earnings call that took place last night.
