Electronic Arts has announced that gamers will have to deal with Necromorphs in the dead of winter, as the publisher has revealed the release date for Dead Space 3; the 8th February 2013 in the UK.

Next week begins Gamescom in Cologne, Germany and EA have confirmed what spectacles they will have on the show floor for attendees. There'll also be press-only briefs.

For John and Jane public EA have Crysis 3, FIFA 13, FIFA Manager 13, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Star Wars: The Old Republic and SimCity.

EA: Dead Space "pretty scary" for solo play, "so we introduced co-op" Poll

Too many fingernails were bitten clean off because Dead Space was 'too scary' for some to play on their lonesome. EA's solution was to introduce co-op play in Dead Space 3.

Laura Miele of EA said they were getting feedback that people "love the thriller game, but it was pretty scary," and that the "obvious next step" was co-op support.

EA General Manager Patrick Soderlund has to deal with pressure. Franchises such as Battlefield, Need for Speed and Dead Space are constantly expected to perform, and it's his job to ensure this happens.

Electronic Arts looking to move 5M units of Dead Space 3

Electronic Arts believes that gamers will be eagerly returning to the Necromorph-infested world of Isaac Clarke in Dead Space 3, so much so that the publisher plans to move 5M units.

One of the reasons that EA is sure it'll sell that many copies is the new co-op mode included in the game.
