Gamers who are still playing Demon's Souls and have not picked up the game's spiritual successor Dark Souls have a boon from publisher Atlus, which has announced that it will continue to support online play for North American users for the "foreseeable future".

Epic Games founder Cliff Bleszinski has been generally disappointed with multiplayer modes in Japanese titles. For instance, he was disappointed that Vanquish, which was developed by Platinum Games, had no multiplayer at all.
However, he is impressed with From Software's multiplayer in the brutal dark fantasy game Dark Souls, and hopes other Japanese developers take notice and gain some inspiration from the game.

Last September, Atlus delayed shutting down Demon's Souls servers. Now, the publisher will be closing them down and this time it'll be permanent.
