Electronic Arts shuts down online for a batch of older games

On the 11th January, Electronic Arts will be shutting down online support for their 2011 branded EA Sports titles, as well as The Sims 2 a few days later.

Lionel Messi now the "global face" of EA Sports' FIFA franchise

EA Sports has announced a "multi-year endorsement contract" that sees footballer Lionel Messi as the new face for FIFA, beginning with FIFA Street in March next year.

This also means Messi will become an 'EA Sports Football Ambassador', and used in all marketing campaigns for the series. They'll also be supporting the Leo Messi Foundation.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution stays atop UK chart, Driver: SF 2nd

Ubisoft's Driver: San Francisco has been denied the UK chart throne as Eidos' Deus Ex: Human Revolution keeps its augmented superiority another week.

EA Tiburon's Madden NFL 12 entered 6th while (cancerous plague) Zumba Fitness fell 3rd. Rugby World Cup 2011 slipped 4th while FIFA 11 dribbled 9th.

Zumba Fitness easily leads quiet week in UK all format chart

Enjoying its 9th consecutive week at the top is 505 Games' Zumba Fitness in the UK chart, which isn't all that difficult when it's a week without new stuff.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean crept up 2nd from 5th, while Disney's Cars 2 kept hold of 3rd. DiRT 3 slipped 4th and FIFA 11 dribbled up a slot to 5th.

Britain really, and I mean really, likes dancing-based fitness regiments packaged in videogame form. Zumba Fitness is refusing to let go of the UK chart.

DiRT 3 climbs 2nd with Transformers: Dark of the Moon at 3rd. Call of Duty: Black Ops is back in the top ten, and F.E.A.R. 3 sinks 9th. FIFA 11 is... 11th.
