The dribble war between Konami's PES and EA Sports' FIFA is warming up as PES 2013 will be arriving just one week outside of FIFA 13's launch. It's a pre-emptive footie strike.

There are 2 limited steelbook editions of PES 2013 in the UK, with one flying the Manchester United colours. Pre-orders get a DLC code for Champions League Match Balls.

Some gamers may recall that Electronic Arts mandated that all of their games would have an online component one way or another as a protection against piracy - and a way to monetize titles post-release as well as establish the Origin digital distribution service.

EA Games president Frank Gibeau has bragged in a promotional pamphlet for Cloud Gaming USA that he has not green lit any single player titles, and nor will he.

FIFA 13 will be adding a new mode called "EA Sports Football Club Match Day", which incorporates real-world events into the game, so things like injuries, suspensions and other events will be reflected in-game.

Next week begins Gamescom in Cologne, Germany and EA have confirmed what spectacles they will have on the show floor for attendees. There'll also be press-only briefs.

For John and Jane public EA have Crysis 3, FIFA 13, FIFA Manager 13, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Star Wars: The Old Republic and SimCity.
