Curt Schilling defends Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning 'online pass' DLC
Having already confirmed there will be DLC unlocked via EA's online pass system, 38 Studios' boss Curt Schilling has defended the practice with the fledgling Kingdoms Of Amalur IP.
The day-one DLC, "to be clear, is free, 100 per cent totally free," affirmed Shilling. It's to reward fans with some "cool free stuff as a thank-you." They're a new studio and 'need to thrive'.

Users were upset when 38 Studios had announced that their upcoming action-RPG Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning would require an online pass. The publisher has clarified that statement that they were not charging used game purchases to play online. Rather, the "online pass" was to reward new purchases with the first premium DLC for free.

The Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo is now available for download for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game, which is a collaboration of author R.A. Salvatore, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lead designer Ken Rolston, is a Diablo-styled action-RPG that features a versatile leveling system.
