Capcom has explained why only nine months after Marvel vs. Capcom 3 fans will be getting the Ultimate version, and it's down to licensing and release dates of the competition.
Marvel "is a big company" and they license a lot of their IP, which has a "huge impact on things" like release schedules. It's at retail because Japan is still "very much not a DLC market."

Gamers who were disappointed that final boss Galactus was not a playable character in Marvel vs Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds will be pleased to learn that Ulimate Marvel vs. Capcom will allow them to play as their favorite world-eater.

For those of you who are hoping the 12 additional fighters in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Ultimate Edition will be available as downloadable content for the original game will be sorely out of luck.

Capcom has announced that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be getting an Ultimate Edition, which will be released this coming November for a budget price of $39.99.
