Lead designer John Edwards of the new Mortal Kombat, in development at NetherRealm Studios, says they've got "a really robust online" planned.
In fact he goes as far to say it's the "most robust online fighting" system ever, and we should all "look forward to it!" Much DLC is on the drawing board.

The new Mortal Kombat game should feature over 26 fighters, according to a leaked screenshot that has emerged today.
The image also suggests that DLC will be featured in the Mortal Kombat reboot, and could even be available on the day of release. There's a button on the character select screen that clearly says DLC, which we assume will allow you to open up another screen with additional characters that have been downloaded.
