Electronic Arts has announced that it has cancelled NCAA Football 15 and is "evaluating plans" for the entire college football brand. This is due to a series of class-action lawsuits against it and Collegiate Licensing Company that were settled today in court.

During a lawsuit by former collegiate football players about Electronic Arts using their likenesses to sell their NCAA Football games, the publisher attempted to invoke First Amendment rights on the issue, stating they were permitted to use their likenesses as a part of freedom of speech.

It seems that NCAA Football 14 will be the last NCAA-licensed game published by EA Sports or anyone else for a long time, as the college authority has stated it will not be renewing its license for the publisher.

The murder charges against Aaron Hernandez continues to have repercussions. After his former team, the New England Patriots, not only released him two hours after his arrest, they offered to exchange his jersey for others of equal value and are turning those jerseys into compost. Now, EA Sports is striking the football player from their American football games.

EA Sports has released a demo of NCAA Football 14, their college football title, on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network. The demo features three matchups, including a neutral site game - a first for the series. The demo also includes a tutorial mode.
