Matt Webster of developer Criterion has revealed more about Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit's more social aspects, saying Autolog is the "ultimate distraction."

The studio argues the game should be compiling how well you and your friends do so you can work to trash their accomplishments accordingly. Nice.

UK developer Criterion Games has revealed that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit's game world is 300 percent larger than their iconic Burnout Paradise.

It's so cars can "usefully reach" 260 MPH. There's over "100 miles of tarmac", with 30-40 more off-road slips and shortcuts; is great for chases.

Criterion has "great collaboration" with DICE on Need for Speed

Burnout creator Criterion, based in UK's Guildford, has been getting chummy with Battlefield developer DICE on the new Need for Speed.

Criterion say about 15-25 DICE artists helped create the Hot Pursuit world, working with "handling guys" to make sure it "drives well and feels right".

Publisher EA has posted their tantalising list of what they'll have on show at gamescom in Cologne, Germany. It's a veritable feast of awesome.

We've got Crysis 2, Dragon Age 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic, FIFA 11, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Medal of Honor, Dead Space 2 and more!

Developer Criterion has talked up the social aspect of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, saying "digital" chatter is "at the heart" of society these days.

Their Autolog feature will help fuel "rivalry between friends" to outdo one another. Multiplayer supports 8 with any combo like 7 cops tailing 1 racer.
