Peter Hines clarifies Prey 2 remarks, "I didn't say it was canned"
Bethesda VP of PR and marketing, Peter Hines, has responded to claims he recently said an interview that Prey 2 had become a canned project. He never said it was over, just "not coming out this year."
In his clarification message, Hines said the interview had been "translated to Dutch, translated back to English." Bethesda said earlier in April Prey 2 had "not progressed satisfactorily".

Prey 2 seems to be suffering the same developmental turmoil of the original game, which took over a decade to be released. The game lost its developer, Human Head, and has been pulled from Bethesda's website. However, the company says there's a reason for its removal, and it's not due to cancellation.

The October 2011 release of Rage has been followed by a whole lot of silence from id Software and Bethesda over what lies ahead, if anything, for the post-apoco shooter.
Pete Hines says it's not atop the agenda right now but they're "looking at doing some things" with it; its future is "still TBD." When gamers talk of id the "first thing" mentioned is Doom 4.

An anonymous source has revealed that Human Head hasn't worked on Prey 2 at all since November, chiefly due to a contract dispute with publisher ZeniMax.
The developer allegedly stopped working on the game in November in order to negotiate a better deal. In response, most of the development staff had been fired, with the hopes they'd be rehired once a contract renegotiation had been reached. However, ZeniMax broke off all communication with the studio in January.
