Carmack: Videogames "more sophisticated than an orbital rocket"

John Carmack of id Software has been doing a "fair amount of research" into the next-gen of graphics and how the industry will likely be applying them.

There's no need to rush and "radically rework" their architecture just yet though. Carmack as mostly come back with "negative results" so far in his quest.

Bethesda confirms 2011 lineup release dates

Bethesda has sent out a press release confirming the release dates for their 2011 blockbuster lineup, which includes Brink, Hunted: The Demon's Forge, Rage, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Have you recently thought that a demo for RAGE would be something you'd like to download? It turns out that this probably isn't going to happen, as Bethesda PR VP Pete Hines has revealed that it technically isn't possible.

"It's something we look at for every game and we do it where possible and where appropriate,"

John Carmack of id Software reveals he has "an itch to make a Kinect title" but admits he has no idea "what I'd want to do yet." No Doom or RAGE.

Sorry but "real games" in the id collection won't fit; "there just isn't a place" for their FPSes. Whatever it is though it will be on the scale of an iOS device.

ZeniMax reason id 'not rushing' Rage, letting them take their time

Creative director Tim Willits of id Software praises ZeniMax Media for buying them as otherwise we'd be playing a 'rushed' Rage right about now.

It's "nice being able to say" ship it next year says Willits, as it lets the veteran studio get "multiplayer awesome," and make Rage "as great as we can".
