Insomniac Games registers 'Sunset Overdrive'

The name 'Sunset Overdrive' has been trademarked by Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games, with Brand Development Director Ryan Schneider having snapped up a domain address.

The patent refers to "computer game software" that's online, which is no surprise. What is Insomniac's Sunset Overdrive? Is this a next-gen project? Something for Facebook, tablets etc?

The Resistance franchise is on hiatus with Sony not having any distinct plan of action for bringing it back, reveals the corporate giant. Insomniac has moved onto other IP.

SCEE's Daniel Brooke said Resistance "has been exciting to work on" but there's nothing right now in its future. Resistance: Burning Skies for PS Vita was the latest and last release?

Ted Price of Insomniac Games declares his studio will continue developing new franchises describing the process as great and terrifying. New IP comes with "no baggage" to consider.

It's something that can be taken in "any direction" but it's of course "a difficult moment" as you decide what it should be. It's a huge gamble for studios as you back "unproven" mechanics.

Insomniac Games, a long-time PlayStation exclusive developer, has confirmed that the studio has no plans to develop any more Resistance games.

"We won't be making any more Resistances." said CEO Ted Price in an interview with VG247.

"Brutality" DLC now available for Resistance 3

A new downloadable content pack has been released for Insomniac Games' Resistance 3, called the "Brutality Pack". The DLC includes a horde mode which supports both online and local co-op, and the Sledgehammer weapon. The DLC also comes with a new skin and theme.

If that weren't enough, the DLC comes with some bonus tracks from metal band Mastodon's latest album The Hunter, as well as some instrumental tracks from their album Blood Mountain.
