Former Beatle Paul McCartney is behind the soundtrack of an as of yet unannounced video game, as the musician notes (pun!) that games sell "so much better" than CDs these days.

I imagine that's been true for quite a while thanks to a little thing called digital. No developer or publisher for this game has been indentified yet. What genre landed Macca then?

Viacom ordered to pay Harmonix an additional $383M

The legal wrangling between developer Harmonix and entertainment company Viacom may have finally come to a conclusion, with the developer enjoying a windfall of cash at the end. An arbitrator has forced Viacom to cough up $383M to the Rock Band developer.

Rock Band developer Harmonix has been sold by former parent company Viacom for around the price of one of its games; a scamp $49.99.

Apparently the $175 million it cost to buy will be almost reaped back through tax incentives instead. Investment group Columbus Nova ponied up the cash.

All new Rock Band DLC now on works only with Rock Band 3

Harmonix has said that any new tracks from October 26th onwards won't be supported by Rock Band 1 & 2, citing the "new authoring standards" used.

All those new instruments and "new lighting / venue cues" are to blame also. All 'RB3 only' tracks won't appear to other Rock Bands to 'avoid accidents'.

Senior designer Dan Teasdale of Rock Band studio Harmonix has left the team and now resides at Twisted Pixel, working on a "cool new project."

Rock Band allowed him to "auto-complete" his personal achievements for gaming, so he wants a fresh set, leaving behind a "design complete" RB3.
