GungHo provides Suda51 "complete creative freedom" at Grasshopper
Grasshopper Manufacture boss Goichi 'Suda51' Suda is excited about the development studio's new owner, GungHo, as it lets him "focus more" on the creative process. He sees nothing but good things to come.
The studio's trademark crazy (Killer 7, Shadows of the Damned) haven't put the new bosses off, assures Suda51. In fact they choose the craziest two yet to green light at Grasshopper.

Shadows of the Damned creator Grasshopper Manufacture and Suda 51 are making Killer Is Dead, which is about the player taking the role of a 'dark side 007' figure.
It'll feature swordplay like the studio's No More Heroes. We'll also get treated to "beautiful Bond Girl-like ladies" because otherwise it wouldn't be 007 enough in tone.

Despite dismal sales, Grasshopper Manufacture wants to developer a sequel to the audacious Shadows of the Damned, and thinks Electronic Arts would be up for it as well.
The game was a collaboration between Grasshopper's Suda 51, Resident Evil game designer Shinji Mikami, and Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka, but despite the high profile Japanese talent, the game was a disastrous retail flop, selling a paltry 24,000 units in its first month in the US alone. Worse, the game failed to move in Japan, where it sold just over 9,000 units in its first week there.

Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's new studio, Tango Gameworks, is now owned by Bethesda Softworks and it's up to 65 employees but he wants more. It shouldn't exceed 100 though.
A heavily modified external engine is powering Mikami-san's new game, but he wouldn't divulge what. Does external include other ZeniMax-controlled studios? No game details yet.

Western devs "really good" at revealing their plans, says Suda51

Grasshopper Manufacture boss Suda51 says it's "really easy to be forgotten" if you're not releasing something. Overseas outfits let you "know what they're up to."
The likes of 'Valve, Epic and Bungie' are "really good at announcing what they're doing" so Suda-san "wanted to learn" from them. Aiming for 'Level-5 success'.
