GAME's near collapse depresses UK market
With the near total extinction of specialist retailer GAME Group, the UK market took a decidedly large hit in trade during March. Sales of games were down to just 2.7 million.
That's a 34% drop from the same period last year which cleared 4.1 million. Overall Q1 2012 physical sales lost 30% compared to Q1 2011. GAME couldn't source new stock.

EA Sports' FIFA Street is hogging all the glory for another week in the UK chart, meaning Capcom's Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City had no choice but to debut 2nd.
That's not bad considering. Mass Effect 3 nudged down 3rd, but FIFA 12 kept 4th. SSX slipped 5th while Kid Icarus: Uprising entered 7th. Ninja Gaiden 3 launched 19th.

EA Sports' FIFA Street has debuted as the UK chart topper, pushing Mass Effect 3 and galactic-wide Reaper-led extinction into 2nd place. Hot their heels are SSX and FIFA 12.
Publisher EA has dominated the UK all format chart as it takes the top four slots - greedy. Mario Party 9 came 5th, followed by Mario & Sonic at the London Olympics.
