Report: Tomb Raider film development 'will begin immediately'
According to a report from the Hollywood Reporter, those big film executives over at MGM and GK Films are to begin development of the third adaptation of Lady Croft to the silver screen immediately.
GK Films were granted the rights to the license by Square Enix. No casting has yet been announced with Angelina Jolie unlikely to return. It's an opportune moment for a reboot, much like the game.

Analyst Billy Pidgeon isn't surprised that Square Enix has called Tomb Raider's four week sales of 3.4 million a 'failure' given the budget behind these kind of titles. The same can be said for Hitman: Absolution.
Square focuses on singleplayer titles and that's an "extremely competitive" market to be in, he says. They've got competition on all sides, big and small, meaning development costs rise.

Square Enix has published their sales figures for Tomb Raider, Hitman: Absolution and Sleeping Dogs - all have fell short of expectations for the publisher. North America was particularly poor compared to Europe.
Tomb Raider has sold 3.4 million in four weeks, which is rather good actually but not according to Square accountants. Hitman: Absolution has sold 3.6 million, and Sleeping Dogs 1.75 million.

Freshly baked WHQL drivers have just come out of Nvidia, which they describe as an "essential update for all GeForce GTX systems." They claim a 41% performance boost for BioShock Infinite in some cases.
Then there's the 71% of extra muscle for Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider. The 314.22 WHQL drivers include SLI profiles for Resident Evil 6, Dungeons & Dragons: Neverwinter and Sniper Elite.

Something's afoot as Square Enix Europe has trademarked the name 'Lara Croft: Reflections' in the US, which would make you think there's some DLC for Tomb Raider. Well if it is, it won't be singleplayer.
Recently Crystal Dynamics revealed they have got no plans for any solo adventure extensions for Lara in their highly lauded reboot, only multiplayer DLC is in the works.
