House of the Dead 2 and 3 Return - Extreme Mode

Sega has informed us about a new mode that will be appearing in The House of the Dead 2 & 3 for the Wii. This mode is entitled “Extreme mode” and is exclusive to the Wii version of the classic Zombie blaster.

Staff of Strategy Informer recently enjoyed playing Geometry Wars: Galaxies on the Nintendo DS, and also gave it a whopping 8.2/10 in our Wii review, so to celebrate our love for all things Geomentry Wars, we've decided to run a little competition to allow our European visitors the chance to win a copy of either the DS or Wii version.

Resident Evil Zero being ported to the Wii? UPDATED

The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed that Capcom could be planning on developing an updated version of Resident Evil Zero for the Wii. Its been called Biohazard 0 in Japan and will be released during the Summer, but no information was given for a release in Europe.

Eidos Interactive has confirmed that Death Jr: Root of Evil, a platform shooter from Backbone Entertainment, will be released on the Nintendo Wii this Summer 2008.

This week's Virtual Console releases

Nintendo has announced that this weeks Wii Virtual Console releases will be Harvest Moon and Lords of Thunder. Both games can be purchased from the shop at 12PM EST.

Both of these new titles will set you back by 800 Wii points ($8). Harvest Moon is a farm RPG where as Lords of Thunder is a Fantasy side-scrolling shooter.

Activision reveal Call of Duty 5 poised to invade early 2009

Now having been officially announced by Activision, Call of Duty 5 will be hitting the PC and the next-gen consoles, Xbox360 & PS3, but there are also plans for PS2, DS and Wii versions.

In development by Treyarch studios, this latest title in the series will not be seeing any more gritty modern warfare but revisiting the franchises roots back in World War II. Activision plan a release sometime before the end of March 31st, 2009.

EA refunds Australian MOH: Heroes 2 players

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 was recently released in Australia and has come under fire as it doesn't appear to have any multiplayer options, which is why EA is offering every Australian who bought MOH: Heroes 2 a refund.

EA has also issued an apology to the country for not being able to battle it out online against other gamers.

Cid The Dummy will bring us into the crazy world of crash impact dummies where CID must save the daughter of his creator, M.I.A., which happens to be a state-of-the-art impact dummy imbued with his daughters essence - how cliché.

This adventurous dummy will be smashing his way through to the PC, PS2, PSP, DS and the Wii sometime this summer.

Manhunt 2 troubles in the UK continues

Rockstar Games have been fighting to allow Manhunt 2 to go on sale in the UK, but a new part in this saga has been revealed today as the High Court has issued a ruling against the Video Appeals Committee's decision to overturn the British Board of Film Censors decision to refuse a classification for Manhunt 2.

A High Court Judge based in London has ruled that the VAC's decision was fatally flawed by “a clear error of law” when it related the game to the question of harm.

THQ decides to scrap several franchises

We've got more news from Financial documents today, but this one bring some sour news to the gaming industry. THQ has decided to scrap a few of its titles, and two franchises will also be wiped out of the development line.

Stuntman Ignition was released towards the end of last year and received average reviews from the media, for this reason THQ has scraped the series.

1080 snowboarding and Riot Zone hit the Wii Virtual Console today

Nintendo has informed us this morning about two new titles that will be making their way to the Wii Virtual Console today. The first one is 1080 snowboarding, a classic game for the Nintendo 64 which was released in 1998 and features six huge courses to explore where you can bust out over 25 stunts and tricks as you head down the slopes. You'll also be able to play six different modes ranging from head-to-head races to Time Attack modes and places to practice your skills. This one will cost 1000 Wii points.

Nintendo of America reveals release date list

Nintendo of America has released a huge list that contains release dates for their upcoming Wii and DS games as well as some third party ones that are currently in development. These dates aren't for the European version, unfortunately for us they are US dates but they should give us a good idea of when they are nearing release in the UK.

We would like to point out some of our favorite ones on this list for the Wii, Alone in the Dark is coming in March from Atari, Mario Kart Wii with Wii Wheel from Nintendo are set to arrive in spring and LucasArts LEGO: Indiana Jones is also set for a release in spring whilst Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be hitting stores in the summer.

Worms: A Space Oddity lacks mutliplayer modes

Team17's upcoming Wii edition of Worms called Worms: A Space Oddity was originally announced with multiplayer features allowing gamers to head online and combat other people, but this has now changed as THQ confirmed to Shacknews that they won't be supporting online play.

It appears that they'll now concentrate all their efforts on a party-play atmosphere so you can invite all your friends around, giving you more fun and satisfaction from being able to taunt your friends to see what kind of reaction they give, this is according to THQ.

Factor 5 developing unknown Wii title

Factor 5 created the popular Rogue Squadren series on the GameCube, but they also created the seemingly disappointing Lair for the PlayStation 3. It's now working on a new title for the Wii which promises to be more like the Rogue Squadron series.

President Julian Eggebrecht revealed to IGN that the new title will not be a Virtual Console release, it will be a retail release that isn't going to use old Rogue Squadron technology. Eggebrecht says that they'll either use updated tech or a fresh new one.

Sin City gets early 2009 release date

Red Mile Interactive are currently developing a game based on Sin City. The developer recently informed MCV that the title would be released in early 2009, giving us a release date to look forward to.

We haven't heard anything about platforms yet, but we presume that it'll be released on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 along with a Wii version. Frank Miller will also be heavily involved with the development of the game, making sure it sticks close to the comics, which we're pleased about.

Resident Evil pre-painted 1/6 scale statues

Gaya Entertainment, a company based in Germany that creates collectible merchandise, has designed six 1/6 statues for Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles which look absolutely brilliant. They are officially licensed by Capcom and each model will only have 1500 copies made, making them very rare in the future.
