Pitchford: "Needs to be a good heist game," Heat license "probably expired"

Gearbox Software's Randy Pitchford wants a damn good heist game, and even went to the trouble of securing the Heat license to do something about it. It hasn't been touched though.

The Heat name "lends credibility" to it; a heist-based game that's "in-your-face" action. If the deal for the Heat IP had been done earlier then "that's where our attention would have gone."

Gearbox Software has revealed new information about the new class being introduced in Borderlands 2, the Gunzerker. As his name implies, his main job is being a wild duel-wielding weapon specialist.

Art director Jeramy Cooke of Borderlands 2 at Gearbox Software wants the sequel to be "a richer, larger world." He personally felt the original was too sandy.

It "got monotonous" to always be in the desert, he lamented, and we saw the "same enemies too often." The world must be "enticing, to convince you" to explore.

Grand Theft Auto franchise ships over 114m, GTA IV now at 22m

Take-Two head Strauss Zelnick revealed that overall the Grand Theft Auto franchise has shipped a huge 114 million copies to retailers during its lifetime.

Grand Theft Auto IV has cleared 22 million of that grand total. CEO Zelnick also gave away some other key title numbers, although L.A. Noire is missing.
