THQ has officially lost its connection to Tomonobu Itagaki's upcoming Devil's Third, which means the rights to the IP return to Valhalla Game Studios. THQ will not be publishing it.

The Ninja Gaiden creator confirmed the rights have returned to him and the team. The most important thing is "gamers' happiness," said Itagaki-san. Valhalla "can't thank THQ enough."

Losing Devil's Third from the THQ line-up wasn't a happy moment for Danny Bilson as he'd been "deeply involved" in the project. It came down to only having so much money to allocate.

Bilson affirms it's "not about stopping a game that had problems," but simply having a "limited amount of slots we can fund". THQ are "looking for help to finish the game" from Valhalla.

THQ: Guillermo Del Toro's inSane "is not cancelled!" (0)
While THQ has delayed Obsidian Entertainment's South Park RPG and dropped Tomonobu Itagaki's Devil's Third from their line-up, questions remained over Guillermo Del Toro's inSane.

The game's development hasn't been cancelled, announced THQ's Danny Bilson, but there's no clarification if they'll be publishing it or letting it go elsewhere. '8 to 10 years to build.'
