Techland's Dead Island has swept through the UK chart like some kind of viral outbreak you'd find on the island of Banoi. Deus Ex: Human Revolution falls 5th.

Brutally nabbing 2nd place is THQ and Relic's Warhammer 40k: Space Marine, with Ubisoft's Driver: San Francisco pulling impressive handbrake turns 3rd.

"No reason why" casual market "would not overcome" hardcore

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot believes eventually the casual gamer and the money they bring to the industry could overtake revenue from 'hardcore' videogames.

There's "no reason why" long term it couldn't happen as there are more "interested in buying casual" than triple A. Ubisoft gets 40 percent revenue from casual.

To celebrate the launch of Driver San Francisco, Ubisoft announced today that it will release free multiplayer content and a game-to-web service for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions.

“On September 15th, 12 new routes for all online modes will be made available for free. Then for the following 10 weeks an additional 10 free routes will also be made available, 1 per week.” read the press release.

Ubisoft's Driver: San Francisco has been denied the UK chart throne as Eidos' Deus Ex: Human Revolution keeps its augmented superiority another week.

EA Tiburon's Madden NFL 12 entered 6th while (cancerous plague) Zumba Fitness fell 3rd. Rugby World Cup 2011 slipped 4th while FIFA 11 dribbled 9th.

Ubisoft Reflections' Martin Edmonson defends the use of 'morally correct' DRM in PC titles against the "utterly unbelievable" levels of software piracy.

If piracy was of "very little trouble" then they wouldn't bother. As for the Uplay Passport for second-hand copies, it's just "one of those things" to get used to.
