D3 has announced that Earth Defense Force 4 will be released in 2013 in North America and Europe as Earth Defense Force 2025 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Japanese gaming mag Famitsu is reporting that Earth Defense Force 4 will be seeing a 2013 release in Japan on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and will feature "online play for a large number of people". Whether this means large multiplayer maps supporting 32 or 64 players or a MMO-level multiplayer remains to be seen.

D3 has posted a new Japanese home page for Earth Defense Force 4, which would be the latest edition of the giant alien bug invasion title that has been a cult classic for gamers in the past few years.
