Lionhead's Fable technical director leaves to form new studio

Simon Carter, co-founder of Lionhead's Big Blue Box, has ended his time with the Microsoft owned studio after 10 years having helped create Fable.

It was a "very difficult" decision but there are "lots of new opportunities to pursue." Carter was also technical lead for Dungeon Keeper and part of Bullfrog.

Lionhead Studios' now fabled (ha!) Kinect project Milo & Kate captured the imagination of the community, swelling our heads with impossible dreams.

Then along came reality and a sledgehammer - the project was canned. Director John Dower has put together an in-depth look entitled 'Emotion Capture'.

The creator of a 2D Fable adventure has been updating blogs detailing how he's gone about including canned features from Fable 1 & 2.

It's being put together as a "simplistic 2D retro-styled game," complete with economy, growing acorns, body morphing, weapon pickups...

Lionhead Studios' Peter Molyneux tells us to "forget about the word 'trilogy'" as it doesn't apply to the Fable series and its troubled world of Albion.

The veteran designer says he hates "limiting ourselves" with a trilogy, and teases Fable III's conclusion won't feel like a close to the hero franchise.

Lionhead Studios' Fable II for Xbox 360 was the victim of "huge design flaws" admits creator Peter Molyneux. Microsoft rated them "super black".

That's the colour for 'oh uh' when it comes to quality testing for bugs. Fable II was the first rated that bad. They had to "reduce down" the game.
