Far Cry 3 delayed to late 2012

Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 3 has been delayed, and its new release date is a far cry from its original September launch. The game will now be released in Europe on the 29th November, with the North American launch happening on the 4th December. The game will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Executive director Laurent Detoc of Ubisoft says the publisher plans on releasing at least one new franchise per year. Last year it was Rocksmith, he said. It could be as much as two IPs.

It depends on whether it's a good year or not. In 2013 Ubisoft will be introducing Watch Dogs, a brand new IP focusing on a fully connected world just ripe for hacking and mischief.

Ubisoft once again took to the stage during E3 2012, this time to showcase Far Cry 3's four-player co-op, and to announce exclusive DLC for PlayStation 3 users.

Ubisoft has released a pre-E3 teaser trailer for Far Cry 3, which releases for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 7th September, 2012.

You can watch the full Far Cry 3 reveal at the Ubisoft E3 Press Conference. The conference will be broadcast live on June 4th at 11pm GMT here.

Lead writer Jeffrey Yohalem of Ubisoft's Far Cry 3 says that Prince of Persia has had a strong inspirational impact on his approach to shaping the game world; wants to "subvert expectations".

It's what Jordan Mechner did with Prince of Persia, he argues, and they want to capture that. Yohalem says they're aiming for "Stranger in a Strange Land" for Far Cry 3, stalking your prey.
