The new first-person shooter is a departure from Monolith’s previous work, which includes Tron 2.0, Aliens vs. Predator, and the No One Lives Forever series. As the story goes, F.E.A.R. places players in the role of special operations soldiers who must respond to a new threat from an unknown paramilitary force in a high-technology government base. Oddly described as a cross between The Matrix and The Ring, the game seems to be a move away from the cheeky No One Lives Forever game franchise to something more akin to a mainstream shooter. Based on early screens, the new game appears to be shooter based on Monolith’s proprietary LithTech engine.
