The Final Fantasy XIII-2 team is looking into how they could reward players of the first title, so it's best you keep a tight clutch on that save game file.

What exactly they're thinking of doing is unknown, possibly even still to them at the moment. Just keep that save data in place and erm, 'look surprised'.

Producer Yoshinori Kitase and director Motomu Toriyama reveal they've a much darker tone in mind for sequel Final Fantasy XIII-2, as it loses the 'pop'.

The sequel covers events that are 'behind the scenes' in FFXIII. The story will have its own mysteries and the goddess Etro will be a central figure.

Sakaguchi: JRPGs "need a change"

Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi says JRPGs "need a change" if they are to survive outside Japan and help their studios prosper once more.

They should keep showing feelings and detail, areas they excel in. The future of the JRPG is one topic Japanese creators "have to clear going forward."

Final Fantasy XIII-2 announced

Square Enix has today announced the direct sequel Final Fantasy XIII-2 is in development, and the FFXIII team is leading along with director Motomu Toriyama.

It will release on both Xbox 360 and PS3 this year. It "serves as the answer" to many questions about FFXIII said Toriyama-san. We get a new character.

Square Enix's event 'First Production Department' has seven titles in total according to sources and one is an addition to Fabula Nova Crystallis series.

That would be Final Fantasy XIII-2 but what about the other two? Dissidia 012 and Kingdom Hearts 3DS were mentioned but we're missing two more?
